SEOUL (Yonhap) -- The following is a chronological review of major developments related to North Korea from Nov. 27-Dec. 3, 2008.

27 The North's Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) says research and a survey was conducted on the DPRK's (North Korea) elderly population in 2007.

   27 The KCNA says a meeting was held in Pyongyang on Nov. 26 to disseminate the results of a survey on the nation's elderly population.

   27 A delegation of the DPRK Committee for the Promotion of International Trade headed by Chairman Ri Myong-san, vice minister of Foreign Trade, leaves Pyongyang by air to visit Russia.

   27 The Polish government donates educational equipment to Pyongyang University of Foreign Studies to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the DPRK and the Republic of Poland.

   27 A photo exhibition takes place at the Romanian embassy in Pyongyang to mark Romania's national day.

   27 Choe Thae-bok, chairman of the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA), returns home after visiting Russia and Kazakhstan.

   27 North Korean leader Kim Jong-il sends a wreath to the bier of Song Tong-chun, composer of the State National Art Troupe and winner of the Kimilsung Prize and the People's Artiste, expressing deep condolences over his death.

   28 Kim Yong-nam, president of the SPA Presidium, sends a message of greetings to Mahmoud Abbas, chairman of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization and chief of the Palestinian National Authority, to mark "world solidarity with Palestinian people" day.

   28 A delegation of the General People's Congress of Yemen led by Abdullah Ahmed Ghanim, member of the General Committee and head of the Political Department of the congress, arrives in Pyongyang.

   28 Kim Yong-nam sends a message of sympathy to Pratibha Patil, president of India, over the simultaneous terrorist attacks in Mumbay that resulted in massive loss of life.

   28 Kim Yong-nam sends a message of greetings to President Francois Bozize to mark the 50th anniversary of the proclamation of the Central African Republic.

   29 The KCNA says Premier Kim Yong-il sent a message of greetings to David Thompson, prime minister of Barbados, on Nov. 26 to mark the 42nd anniversary of his country's independence.

   29 A DPRK government economic delegation led by Minister of Foreign Trade Ri Ryong-nam leaves Pyongyang to visit Singapore and Malaysia.

   30 The North Headquarters, the South Headquarters and Overseas Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification (Pomminryon) release a joint resolution to mark the 18th anniversary of the formation of Pomminryon.

   30 The KCNA says Kim Jong-il inspected Air Force Unit 1016 of the North's Korean People's Army (KPA).

1 The North bars 56 South Koreans from crossing the border into the North Korean city of Kaesong where they work, saying they are no longer allowed to enter under tightened immigration rules.

   1 Foreign Minister Pak Ui-chun sends a message of greetings to Romanian Foreign Minister Lazar Comanescu to mark the 90th national day of his country.

   1 Kim Yong-nam sends a message of greetings to Sheikh Halifa Bin Zayed Al-Nahayan, president of the United Arab Emirates, to mark the 37th national day of his country.

   1 Premier Kim Yong-il sends a message of greetings to Sheikh Muhammad Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, vice president and prime minister of the United Arab Emirates, to mark the 37th national day of his country.

   1 Kim Yong-il sends a message of greetings to the prime minister of Laos, Bouasone Bouphavanh, to mark the 33rd anniversary of the foundation of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.

   1 Kim Yong-nam sends a message of greetings to Choummaly Saynasone, president of Laos, to mark the 33rd anniversary of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.

   1 An event is held at the People's Palace of Culture in Pyongyang to mark World AIDS Day.

   1 Iancu Riviu Ovidiu, charge d' affaires ad interim of the Romanian embassy in Pyongyang, gives a reception at the Taedong River Club for the Diplomatic Corps in Pyongyang to mark the national day of Romania.

   1 The KCNA says DPRK boxer Kim Hyang-ok bagged a gold medal in the 50kg match of the 5th World Women's Boxing Championships held in China from Nov. 22 to 29.

   1 The KCNA says Kim Jong-il gave on-the-spot guidance to the Central Zoo on its reconstruction and expansion.

   2 The KCNA says the Pyongyang Puppet Show Troupe has recently produced new puppet dramas.

   2 A film show is arranged at the Taedong River Club for the Diplomatic Corps to mark the national day of Romania.

   2 The KCNA says Kim Yong-il on Nov. 28 sent a message of greetings to Sali Berisha, prime minister of Albania, to mark the country's national day.

   2 Kim Ki-nam, secretary of the Central Committee of the ruling Workers' Party of (North) Korea (WPK), meets with the delegation of the General People's Congress of Yemen at the Mansudae Assembly Hall in Pyongyang.

   2 An agreement on friendship and cooperation between the WPK and the General People's Congress of Yemen is signed at the Mansudae Assembly Hall.

   3 The KCNA says the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital has recently made Sungnyung, a Koryo (traditional) medicine, which helps toward the treatment of patients and promotion of the health of working people.

   3 The KCNA says an agreement on promoting and protecting investment between the governments of the DPRK and Singapore was signed in the Southeast Asian city state on Nov. 2.
