S. Korea expresses 'deep regret' after N. Korea reseals border
SEOUL, March 13 (Yonhap) -- South Korea expressed "deep regret" on Friday as North Korea closed the inter-Korean border for the second time this week amid rising tensions over Pyongyang's planned rocket launch.
"Our government expresses deep regret over this recurring situation and urges North Korea to immediately normalize passage across the inter-Korean border," Unification Ministry spokesman Kim Ho-nyoun said.
Hundreds of South Koreans scheduled to visit a joint industrial complex in the North Korean border town of Kaesong could not make the trip, as Pyongyang did not respond to Seoul's attempts to have their travel approved by the North. Hundreds of other people in Kaesong could not return.
The closure came just three days after North Korea reopened the border after a day-long suspension of travel by South Koreans.
Seoul officials could not say why North Korea closed the border again.
