SEOUL (Yonhap) -- The following is a chronological review of major developments related to North Korea between June 18-24, 2009.

18 North Korean leader Kim Jong-il sends a wreath to the bier of Jo Song-ho, a general officer of the (North) Korean People's Army (KPA), expressing deep condolences over his death.

   18 A national meeting is held at the April 25 House of Culture to celebrate the 45th anniversary of leader Kim Jong-il's start of work at the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of (North) Korea (WPK), attended by Kim Yong-nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA).

   19 The (North) Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) says information workers of primary organizations under the General Federation of Trade Unions from across the country made a tour of "revolutionary battle sites" in the area of Mt. Paektu between June 12 and 17.

   19 Kim Yong-nam sends a message of greetings to Queen Elizabeth II to mark her official birthday and the national day of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

   19-24 The 12th national Taekwondo championship for Jongil Peak Cup is held in Pyongyang, attended by Kim Jung-rin, a WPK secretary.

   19 Minutes from talks on oceanic scientific and technological cooperation between the North Korean Hydro-Meteorological Service and China's State Oceanic Administration are signed in Pyongyang.

   19 A performance of the famous North Korean opera "The Flower Girl" is given at the Pyongyang Grand Theater to celebrate the 45th anniversary of Kim Jong-il's start of work at the WPK Central Committee.

   19 The two Koreas hold a working-level meeting in Kaesong to discuss revising contracts on the Kaesong Industrial Complex.

   19 Youth and student dance parties take place in Pyongyang's public places to celebrate the 45th anniversary of Kim Jong-il's start of work with the WPK.

   19 Ismail Ahmed Mohamed Hasan, Palestinian ambassador to the North, hosts a reception at his embassy to mark the anniversary of Kim Jong-il's start of party work.

   20 The KCNA says provincial rallies were held from June 17 to 20 to denounce the U.N. Security Council's sanctions against the North's second nuclear test.

   20 North Korea's national football team returns home after qualifying for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

   20 A banquet is given by the North Korean Cabinet for the country's national football team, which won a ticket to the FIFA World Cup finals for the first time in 44 yeras.

   20 A military delegation led by Pak Jae-kyong, vice minister of the People's Armed Forces, leaves for Mongolia.

   22 The SPA Presidium issues a decree on the appointment of Ri Hyok-chol as North Korean Ambassador to Egypt.

   22 A delegation of the Agricultural and Forestry Workers Union of China headed by Sheng Mingfu, president of the National Committee of the union, arrives in Pyongyang.

   23 A delegation of the General Civil Aviation Administration led by Director Kang Ki-sop leaves for China.

   23 A meeting and a film show take place at the Taedong River Diplomatic Corps Club in Pyongyang to mark the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between North Korea and Laos, attended by Lao Ambassador to Pyongyang Chaleune Warinthrasak and staff members of the embassy.

   23 A meeting is held in Sariwon, North Hwanghae Province, between the Union of Agricultural Workers and members of the Chinese delegation of the Agricultural and Forestry Workers Union.

   23 Workers and members of the General Federation of Trade Unions hold a meeting on the bank of the Taedong River in Pyongyang, where a monument commemorating the sinking of the U.S. ship "General Sherman" stands and the captured U.S. spy ship "Pueblo" is anchored on the occasion of the "June 25 the Day of the Struggle against U.S. Imperialism."

   24 The KCNA says Kim Jong-il enjoyed a performance given by Russia's Igor Moiseyev Dance Company.

   24 Kim Yong-nam sends a message of greetings to Croatian President Stipe Mesic on the national day of Croatia.

   24 Kim Yong-nam sends a message of greetings to Armando Emilio Guebuza, president of Mozambique, to mark the 34th anniversary of its independence.

   24 Premier Kim Yong-il sends a message of greetings to Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader on its national day.

   24 Youth and children from across the country make a study tour of "revolutionary battle sites" in the area of Mt. Paektu where late leader Kim Il-sung's anti-Japanese troops fought for Korean independence.
