SEOUL (Yonhap) -- The following is a chronological review of major developments related to North Korea between July 2-8, 2009.

2 The two Koreas hold working-level talks over the fate of the Kaesong Industrial Complex in the North Korean border town of Kaesong.

   2 South Korea's military says North Korea test-fired four short-range missiles into the East Sea.

   2 Foreign Minister Pak Ui-chun meets outgoing Polish Ambassador to North Korea Roman Iwaszkiewicz, who paid a farewell call on Pak.

   2 Kim Ki-nam meets a delegation of the State Archives Administration of China headed by its Deputy Director-General Yang Jibo at Mansudae Assembly Hall in Pyongyang.

   2 The Hamhung Martyrs' Cemetery is built at the foot of a mountain in Hamhung, South
Hamgyong Province.

   2 An art exhibition opens with due ceremony at the Pyongyang International Cultural Centre to mark the 15th anniversary of former North Korean leader Kim Il-sung's death.

   2 A memorial meeting of agricultural workers is held in Yonan County, South Hwanghae Province, to mark the anniversry of former leader Kim Il-sung's death.

   3 The North's Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) says Kim Yong-nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA), on June 29 sent a message of greetings to the president of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, on the occasion of the national day of Rwanda.

   3 Kim Yong-nam sends a message of greetings to Aleksandr Grigoriyevich Lukashenko, president of Belarus, to mark the country's national day.

   4 South Korea's military says North Korea test-fired seven short-range missiles into the East Sea.

   4 A national photo exhibition opens in Pyongyang to commemorate Kim Il-sung's death anniversary.

   4 Kim Yong-nam sends a message of greetings to Pedro Pirez, president of Cape Verde, to mark the 34th anniversary of its independence and the proclamation of its Republic.

   4 A documentary film about Kim Il-sung's life is shown at the People's Palace of
Culture in Pyongyang to commemorate his death anniversary.

   5 Kim Yong-nam sends a message of greetings to Bingu Wa Mutarika, president of Malawi, to mark the 45th anniversary of its independence.

   5 Kim Yong-nam sends a message of greetings to Hugo Chavez Frias, president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, on the occasion of its independence day.

   5 The KCNA says North Korean leader Kim Jong-il inspected the Tideland Reclamation Site on Taegye Islet in North Pyongan Province.

   6 Kim Yong-nam confers with Polish Ambassador to North Korea Roman Iwaszkiewicz at Mansudae Assembly Hall during a farewell call paid by the ambassador.

   6 Pak Ui-chun meets with a delegation from the Thai Foreign Ministry headed by Vice-Minister Panich Vikitsreth at Mansudae Assembly Hall.

   6 A remembrance meeting of students and children and another by members of the Democratic Women's Union of Korea are held in Pyongyang to mark Kim Il-sung's death anniversary.

   6 Pak Ui-chun sends a message of congratulations to Eta Elizabeth Band on her appointment as foreign minister of Malawi.

   8 Kim Jong-il, together with members of the National Defense Commission (NDC) and
commanding officers of the Korean People's Army (KPA), visits the Kumsusan Memorial Palace, where the embalmed body of his late father Kim Il-sung is laid, to mark the anniversary of his death.

   8 A national memorial service is held in Pyongyang to commemorate the 15th anniversary of Kim Il-sung's death, attended by Kim Yong-nam, among others.
