SEOUL (Yonhap) -- The following is a chronological review of major developments related to North Korea between Nov. 12-18, 2009.

12 Kim Yong-nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA), meets Jack Lang, special envoy to the French president.

   12 Foreign Minister Pak Ui-chun receives credentials from Jerome Sauvage, U.N. resident coordinator and resident representative of the UNDP to Pyongyang.

   12 Choe Thae-bok, secretary of the Workers' Party of (North) Korea (WPK), meets with the delegation of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions led by Vice Chairwoman Qiao Chuanxiu.

   12 Rodong Sinmun, organ of the WPK, charges that a recent naval skirmish in the Yellow Sea was a "premeditated provocation" by the South which it claims will be forced to "pay dearly" for an attempt to thwart the current mood for dialogue.

   13 The North's chief delegate to inter-Korean general-level military talks warns that the country will take "merciless military measures" to protect a self-claimed border in the Yellow Sea and reasserts South Korea will pay dearly for a recent skirmish there.

   13 Premier Kim Yong-il sends a congratulatory message to Saad Hariri on his appointment as prime minister of Lebanon.

   13 Pak Ui-chun sends a congratulatory message to Gombojab Zandanshatar on his appointment as minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Mongolia.

   13 Kim Yong-nam sends a congratulatory message to Armando Emilio Guebuza on his reelection as president of Mozambique.

   14 Kim Yong-nam sends a message of greetings to Mahmoud Abbas, chairman of the Palestine Liberation Organization, on the occasion of the 21st anniversary of the proclamation of the State of Palestine.

   15 North Korean leader Kim Jong-il sends a message of greetings to Bashar Al-Assad, president of Syria who doubles as regional secretary of the Arab Baath Socialist Party, on the occasion of the 39th anniversary of the corrective movement in Syria.

   17 A delegation of political officials of the Korean People's Army led by Kim Jong-gak, first vice-director of the KPA General Political Bureau, leaves Pyongyang to visit China.

   17 Kim Yong-nam sends a message of greetings to Qaboos Bin Said, sultan of Oman, on the occasion of the 39th national day.

   17 A WPK delegation, led by Pak Kyong-son, vice department director of its Central Committee, leaves Pyongyang to attend the 11th international meeting of communist and workers' parties to be held in New Delhi and visit Nepal and Cambodia.

   17 A delegation of the North's Ministry of People's Security led by Vice-Minister Ho Yong-ho to participate in the 1st global ministerial conference on road safety to be held in Russia.

   17 The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) says the Russian government's recent donation of food to North Korea has been completed.

   17 Rodong Sinmun says North Korea will make efforts to improve relations with South Korea and resolve tension stoked by a recent inter-Korean naval confrontation.

   17 China's Vice President Xi Jinping meets in Beijing with a visiting delegation of political officers from the KPA led by Kim Jong-gak.

   18 The KCNA says the autumn land management campaign is in full swing in North Korea.
