New N. Korean banknotes feature Kim Il-sung, his birth home

SEOUL, Dec. 4 (Yonhap) -- North Korea's new banknotes, which began circulating after a currency reform earlier this week, feature pictures of the country's founder Kim Il-sung and his birth home in Pyongyang, according to images released by a pro-Pyongyang paper on Friday.

The Choson Sinbo, based in Tokyo and with a branch in Pyongyang, ran images of the new bills of 5,000 won, 2,000 won and 1,000 won. The paper also said 100 won, 50 won and 10 won notes are issued in bills, while lower denominations are in coins.
