SEOUL (Yonhap) -- The following is a chronological review of major developments related to North Korea between Dec. 24-30.

24 The (North) Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) says the Workers' Party of (North) Korea Publishing House released the "Complete Collection of Kim Il-sung's Works" Vol. 85.

   24 Wreaths are laid before a bust of Kim Jong-suk, North Korean leader Kim Jong-il's mother, at the Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery on Mt. Taesong in Pyongyang on the 92nd anniversary of her birth.

   24 Art performances are given in Pyongyang and around the provinces to mark the 18th anniversary of leader Kim Jong-il's assumption of the supreme commandership of the Korean People's Army (KPA).

   25 The KCNA says the Korean servicepersons and people are now bringing about a new great revolutionary upsurge in their efforts to build a great, prosperous and powerful country on the land of Kim Il-sung under the leadership of the Workers' Party of (North) Korea (WPK).

   25 The KCNA announces the founding of the Taedong River Combined Fruit Farm in the Wonhung area of Samsok Ward, Pyongyang.

   25 A meeting is held at the Pyongyang Indoor Stadium to welcome a delegation of workers and technicians of the Songjin Steel Complex who completed the Korean-style system for the production
of Juche iron true to the behests of President Kim Il-sung.

   25 Banquets are given at the Mokran House and the People's Palace of Culture in Pyongyang to welcome the delegation of workers and technicians of the Songjin Steel Complex.

   25 Ri Chol-bong, chief secretary of the Kangwon Provincial Committee of the WPK, member of the WPK Central Committee and deputy to the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, dies in a traffic accident at the age of 78.

   26 Rodong Sinmun reports that a meeting was held to mark the first anniversary of the field guidance given by Kim Jong-il to the Chollima Steel Complex, kindling the torch for effecting a new revolutionary surge there.

   26 Kim Jong-il is presented with a gift by the Russian State Academic Igor Moiseyev Dance Company for the New Year.

   26 A meeting takes place in Pyongyang to mark the 64th anniversary of the founding of the Buddhist Federation of (North) Korea.

   26 The KCNA says Rodong Sinmun praises Kim Jong-il for the immortal feats he has performed by making a great history of revolutionary morality.

   26 The KCNA reports that leader Kim Jong-il provided field guidance to at least 200 units across North Korea in 2009.

   26 Kim Jong-il sends a wreath to the bier of Ri Chol-bong, chief secretary of the Kangwon Provincial Committee of the WPK, expressing deep condolences over his death.

   27 The KCNA says leading papers call for eternally glorifying the socialist country as an invincible power in editorials marking the 37th anniversary of the promulgation of "Socialist Constitution of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK/ North Korea)" by President Kim Il-sung.

   27 Kim Jong-il, together with servicepersons, enjoys an art performance given by the Song and Dance Ensemble of the KPA Navy Command on the occasion of Socialist Constitution Day.

   28 Kim Jong-il is presented with a gift by Abdelaziz Bouteflika, president of Algeria, on the occasion of the New Year.

   28 Rodong Sinmun reports that Kim Jong-il enjoyed an art performance given by the Song and Dance Ensemble of the KPA Navy Command on the occasion of Constitution Day.

   28 Kim Jong-il is presented with a floral basket and congratulatory letter by the economic and commercial councilors' corps in Pyongyang on the occasion of the New Year.

   28 Rodong Sinmun says that if the South Korean authorities obstruct the improvement of the inter-Korean relations persistently, they will only meet isolation and destruction.

   28 The KCNA claims tremendous achievements have been made in Songun (military-first) Korea in 2009.

   28 The KCNA says over 120 more scenic spots, including waterfalls, fantastic rocks and peaks, have been discovered at Mt. Myohyang, one of the famous mountains in Korea, by a team of experts from Kimilsung University and other agencies.

   29 The KCNA reports that an American was detained after illegally entering the DPRK through the DPRK-China border on Dec. 24 and says is now under investigation by a relevant organ.

   29 The KCNA says Kim Jong-il is presented with a gift by Sazhi Umalatova, chairwoman of the Party for Peace and Unity of Russia, on the occasion of the New Year.

   29 Kim Jong-il receives a floral basket and a congratulatory letter from the military attaches corps here on the occasion of the New Year.

   29 The KCNA says the Tonguibogam, a book of Koryo medicine written by Ho Jun in 1610, has widely been used in modern medical treatment in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

   29 Kim Jong-il sends gifts to the delegation of workers and technicians of the Songjin Steel Complex who had a photo session with senior party and state officials in Pyongyang.

   29 A commendation is given to officials, workers and technicians of the Songjin Steel Complex for their contribution to perfecting the Juche steel production system.

   29 The Sports Science Library in Chongchun Street, Pyongyang, is completed and opens with due ceremony.

   30 The KCNA says Kim Jong-il receives a floral basket and a congratulatory letter from the diplomatic corps in Pyongyang on the occasion of the New Year.

   30 The KCNA says the Health Education Institute published new medical books.

   30 The KCNA says hydropower stations have been built across North Korea to further consolidate the foundations of the country's economy.
