SEOUL (Yonhap) -- The following is a chronological review of major developments related to North Korea between Feb. 11-17.

11 Kim Yong-nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA), sends a message of greetings to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, president of Iran, on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of the victory of Islamic revolution in Iran.

   11 Premier Kim Yong-il sends a message of greetings to First-Vice President of Iran Mohammad-Reza Rahimi on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of the victorious Islamic revolution in Iran.

   11 The (North) Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) says Kim Jong-il rec
eived a floral basket from the family of Zhou Wei, daughter of Zhou Baozhong, a Chinese citizen who was involved in the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle, on the occasion of his birthday.

   11 Chinese residents in Pyongyang give a concert at the Taedong River Diplomatic Corps Club in Pyongyang on the occasion of the birthday of leader Kim Jong-il.

   11 The KCNA says Kim Jong-il was presented with gifts by personages and companies of Peru, Kuwait and Qatar on the occasion of his birthday, February 16.

   11 The KCNA says Kim Jong-il received a verbal personal message and a gift from the secretary general of the U.N., conveyed by a visiting special envoy, B. Lynn Pascoe.

   11 Alejandro Cao de Benos, chairman of the Korean Friendship Association (KFA) headquartered in Spain, and his party visit the Pyongyang mission of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front.

   11 Kim Yong-nam meets with B. Lynn Pascoe, a U.N. special envoy and his party at the Mansudae Assembly Hall in Pyongyang.

   11 Performances are given at the People's Palace of Culture and the Central Youth Hall in Pyongyang to celebrate February 16, the birthday of leader Kim Jong-il.

   12 The KCNA says Kim Jong-il was presented with a floral basket by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on the occasion of his birthday.

   12 The 17th national loyalty festival of youth and children opens on the occasion of leader Kim Jong-il's birthday.

   12 The 14th Kimjongilia Festival opens in Pyongyang to celebrate the birthday of leader Kim Jong-il.

   12 B. Lynn Pascoe, under-secretary-general of the United Nations for the Department of Political Affairs who is special envoy of its secretary general, and his party leave Pyongyang.

   12 The KCNA says Kim Jong-il received a floral basket and a congratulatory letter from the economic and commercial councilors corps in Pyongyang on the occasion of his birthday.

   13 A Foreign Ministry spokesman says the delegation led by Kim Kye-gwan, vice minister of Foreign Affairs, visited China from Feb. 9 to 13 at the invitation of Wu Dawei, special envoy of the Chinese government for the affairs of the Korean Peninsula.

   13 The KCNA says rare animals have been sent to Korea as gifts for leader Kim Jong-Il by state and party leaders and other prominent figures of many countries and overseas Koreans.

   13 The KCNA says all the children of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea have received presents on the occasion of the birthday of leader Kim Jong-il (Feb. 16).

   13 The KCNA says Kim Jong-il received a gift and a large floral basket from Ali Muhammad Habib Mahmoud, minister of defense and deputy commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Syria, on the occasion of his birthday.

   13 A mass rally of Pyongyangites takes place to vow to thoroughly carry out the joint calls issued by the Central Committee and the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of (North) Korea on the occasion of its 65th birthday.

   13 The KCNA says Kim Jong-il was presented with floral baskets by the International Institute of the Juche Idea and Johnny Hon, chairman of the "International Kim Il-sung Foundation", on the occasion of his birthday.

   14 Floral baskets are laid before the statues of President Kim Il-sung on the occasion of the lunar New Year's Day.

   14 The KCNA says Kim Jong-il appreciated a concert given by the Unhasu Orchestra in celebration of the lunar New Year.

   15 The KCNA says Kim Jong-il was presented with gifts carrying best wishes by heads of many states and governments and leaders of political parties, personages of various strata, organizations and people of broad strata on significant occasions.

   15 Kim Yong-nam sends a message of greetings to Boris Tadzic, president of Serbia, on the occasion of its national day.

   15 Premier Kim Yong-il sends a message of greetings to Mirko Cvetkovic, prime minister of Serbia, on the occasion of its national day.

   15 The 19th International Figure Skating Festival for Paektusan Prize opens at the Ice Rink in Pyongyang on the occasion of the birthday of leader Kim Jong-il.

   15 A national meeting is held at the April 25 House of Culture in Pyongyang to celebrate the birthday of leader Kim Jong-il.

   16 The KCNA says Kim Jong-il receives a congratulatory message from Russian President Dmitri Medvedev on the occasion of his birthday and is presented with a congratulatory message by the Central Committee of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front (AINDF).

   16 The KCNA says the Korean people are celebrating the birthday of leader Kim Jong-il with heartfelt gratitude and respect for him.
16 The KCNA says Kim Jong-il receives a congratulatory message from the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon).

   16 A joint national meeting of the (North) Korean Children's Union organizations is held in Pyongyang to celebrate the birthday of Kim Jong-il.

   16 Art performances are given at theatres in Pyongyang and local areas to celebrate the birthday of Kim Jong-il.

   16 Dancing parties of youth and students take place across the country to celebrate the birthday of Kim Jong-il.

   17 The KCNA says Kim Jong-il appreciated a performance given by the State Merited Chorus, together with servicepersons of the (North) Korean People's Army.

   17 Kim Yong-nam sends a message of greetings to Yaya A.J.J. Jammeh, president of Gambia, on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of its independence.

   17 The KCNA says Kim Jong-il received congratulatory messages and letters from organizations of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) and Koreans in Japan on the occasion of his birthday.

   17 The 19th International Figure Skating Festival for the Mount Paektu Prize, which opened on Feb. 15 on the occasion of the birthday of Kim Jong-il, closes at the Ice Rink in Pyongyang.

   17 The KCNA says Kim Jong-il enjoyed a performance given by the art squad of KPA Unit 963.
