SEOUL (Yonhap) -- The following is a chronological review of major developments related to North Korea from June 3-9.

3 The (North) Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) says that North Korean leader Kim Jong-il provided field guidance to a machine plant in North Pyongan Province.

   3 Kim Jong-il sends a wreath to the bier of Ri Je-gang, first vice department director for the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of (North) Korea.

   3 Mass rallies take place in North and South Hwanghae, Kangwon provinces and Nampho City to denounce the U.S. imperialists and South Korean government for their so-called smear campaign against the DPRK (North Korea).

   3 The KCNA says the DPRK players bagged two gold medals, four silvers and two bronzes at the fifth Asian Women's Boxing Championships held in Kazakhstan from May 23 to 30.

   3 A reception is held at Swedish embassy in Pyongyang to commemorate Sweden's National Day.

   3 The sports contest for Pochonbo Torch Prize opens at the Hyesan Studium in Ryanggang Province.

   4 A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry urges the U.N. Security Council (UNSC) to call for a new investigation into the sinking of a South Korean warship Cheonan and warns of the "toughest retaliation" if punishment against North Korea is discussed in the UNSC.

   4 Kim Yong-nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA), meets with Johnny Hon, chairman of the International Kim Il-sung Foundation, at the Mansudae Assembly Hall in Pyongyang.

   4 Members of the Chinese embassy in Pyongyang, including ambassador Liu Hongcai, work on the DPRK-China Friendship Thaekam Cooperative Farm in Sunan District in Pyongyang.

   5 The KCNA says local mass rallies took place in South Pyongan and North Hamgyong provinces on June 4 and 5 slamming the so-called U.S. imperialists and the South Korean government for their anti-DPRK smear campaign.

   5 The KCNA says Kim Jong-il provided field guidance to the newly built gasification process at the Namhung Youth Chemical Complex, South Pyongan Province.

   6 The KCNA says Kim Jong-il provided field guidance to the Taedong River Combined Fruit Farm which underwent an expansion.

   6 Kim Yong-nam sends greetings to Carl Gustaf, King of Sweden, on its National Day.

   7 Kim Jong-il attends the third session of the 12th Supreme People's Assembly at the Mansudae Assembly Hall.

   7 A meeting is held at the Grand People's Study House in Pyongyang to commemorate World Environment Day.

   7 The KCNA says that a workship for FIFA referees is held from June 1 to 6 at Kim Il-sung Stadium in Pyongyang.

   7 The KCNA says that researchers of Hantoksu University of Light Industry have developed a technology that makes stone paper out of plastic and limestone.

   8 The KCNA says that Kim Jong-il inspected a unit of the (North) Korean People's Army.

   8 The Pyongyang International Insurance Seminar closes its two-day run in Pyongyang, with Vice Premier Pak Su-gil and Minister of Finance So Tong-myong in attendance.
8 Staff members of the Cuban embassy in Pyongyang, including Charge d'Affaires a.i. Bianka Rodriguez Suero work on the DPRK (North Korea)-Cuba Friendship Hwasong Vegetable Cooperative Farm in Ryongsong District in Pyongyang.

   8 Staff members of the Indonesian embassy in Pyongyang, including Charge d'Affaires a.i. Fitri Riyanti, work on the DPRK-Indonesia Friendship Yaksu Cooperative Farm in Kangso District in Napho City.

   8 Kim Yong-nam sends a message of greeting to Anibal Cavaco Silva, president of Portugal, on its national day.

   9 Sin Son-ho, permanent representative of the DPRK at the U.N., sends a message to Claude Heller, president of the UNSC, to urge a new probe into the sinking of South Korea's warship Cheonan, warning of "serious" consequences if punishment against Pyongyang is discussed.

   9 The KCNA says the Taedong River Combined Fruit Farm, located in Pyongyang, has been built into a great structure suited to the features of a new century.
