SEOUL (Yonhap) -- The following is a chronological review of major developments related to North Korea from June 17-23.

17 Kim Yong-nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA), meets with the delegation of the People's Unity Party of Tunisia, headed by Secretary General Mouhammad Bouchiha at the Mansudae Assembly Hall in Pyongyang.

   17 Kim Yong-nam sends a message of greetings to James Alix Michel, president of Seychelles, on June 16 on the occasion of its national day.

   17 The (North) Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) says artistes of the Phibada Opera Troupe of the DPRK (North Korea) on a visit to China gave performances of opera "A Dream of Red Mansions" at the Grand Theatre in Chongqing City on June 13 and 14.

   17 Staff members of the Polish embassy in Pyongyang, including ambassador Edward Pietrzyk, do friendly work on the DPRK-Poland Friendship Jangsuwon Cooperative Farm in the Samsok District of Pyongyang on June 16.

   18 The KCNA says North Korean leader Kim Jong-il provided field guidance to Rakwon Machine Complex.

   18 A national meeting takes place at the April 25 People's Army House of Culture in Pyongyang to mark the 46th anniversary of Kim Jong-il's start of work at the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of (North) Korea (WPK).

   18 The delegation of the people's unity party of Tunisia leaves Pyongyang, winding up its visit to the DPRK.

   19 The KCNA says Kim Jong-il provided field guidance to the work in various fields in North Pyongan Province, including the training center for commanding officers of KPA Unit 593, Dec. 5 Youth Mine, Pukjung Machine Complex and Jangsan Co-operative Farm in Ryongchon County.

   20 The KCNA says performances were given at the theatre in Pyongyang and in local areas on June 19 to celebrate the 46th anniversary of Kim Jong-il's start of work at the WPK Central Committee.

   21 A spokesman for the foreign ministry says that the country will never allow the U.S. to sling mud at it but that it has its own method of calculation, while denouncing the U.S. for its smear campaign against the DPRK.

   21 A meeting for opening the week of DPRK-Iran friendship was held at the Taedong River Diplomatic Corps Club in Pyongyang.

   21 The KCNA says a combined casting production center with the largest capacity has taken its shape at the Ryongsong Machine Complex.

   22 The KCNA says various festivities, including meetings and seminars, were held in Poland, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Benin, Singapore and Nigeria between June 5-15 to mark the 46th anniversary of Kim Jong-il's start of work at the WPK Central Committee.

   23 The KCNA say the SPA Presidium promulgated a decree on reorganizing the Ministry of Education into the Education Commission.

   23 A mass meeting for welcoming Rev. Han Sang-ryol of South Korea takes place at the Central Youth Hall in Pyongyang.

   23 A Shandong provincial friendship delegation of China headed by Wang Min, secretary-general of the Shandong Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, arrives in Pyongyang by air.

   23 Foreign Minister Pak Ui-chun sends a congratulatory message to Elliot Ohin upon his appointment as minister of State and minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Togo.
