SEOUL (Yonhap) -- The following is a chronological review of major developments related to North Korea from Oct. 7 to Oct. 13, 2010.

7 Soccer matches kick off at Kim Il-sung Stadium in Pyongyang on the sidelines of the national sports festival marking the 65th anniversary of the Workers' Party of (North) Korea (WPK).
7 Kim Yong-nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA), sends a message of greetings to Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, president of Equatorial Guinea, on the occasion of the 42nd anniversary of its independence.
8 The (North) Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reports that the Pyongyang Art Troupe gave performances in China's Zhejiang, Jiangxi and Guangdong provinces.
8 Yang Hyong-sop, vice president of the SPA Presidium, meets with members of the Associated Press Television News, who arrived in the country to cover the 65th anniversary of the WPK, at the Mansudae Assembly Hall in Pyongyang.
8 Leader Kim Jong-Il is presented with a floral basket by Mahmoud Abbas, president of Palestine, in congratulations of his re-election as general secretary of the WPK and its 65th birthday.
8 The Central Committee of the WPK receives a floral basket from the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on the occasion of its 65th birthday.
8 The KCNA reports that Kim Jong-il inspected a newly-built state theater and visited artists' new flats. The report does not mention the presence of Kim's heir apparent, Kim Jong-un, during the inspection, but a KCNA photo later shows the leader's youngest son Jong-un tagged along during the trip.
9 Minju Joson, the North Korean Cabinet's newspaper, slams South Korean Defense Minister Kim Tae-young for announcing a plan to conditionally launch a full-scale propaganda war against the North.
9 A delegation of the Communist Party of China led by Zhou Yongkang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, arrives in Pyongyang for a goodwill visit to the North. The delegation later visits the Kumsusan Memorial Palace in Pyongyang to pay tribute to late North Korean founder Kim Il-sung and is received by Kim Yong-nam, president of the SPA Presidium, at the Mansudae Assembly Hall.
9 Kim Jong-il receives a message of greetings from Chinese President Hu Jintao, who extended congratulations to the WPK on the occasion of its 65th founding anniversary.
9 Premier Choe Yong-rim sends a message of greetings to Meles Zenawi upon his re-election as prime minister of Ethiopia.
10 North Korea stages a massive military parade in Pyongyang's Kim Il-sung Square to celebrate the WPK's 65th anniversary. The event, televised live by a group of international media, was publicly reviewed by Kim Jong-il and his heir apparent son, Kim Jong-un. The parade is followed by gala events and large fireworks in South Hamgyong and North Hwanghae provinces and other areas throughout the country in the evening.
11 Kim Jong-il receives the CPC goodwill delegation on the last day of their trip to Pyongyang. The North Korean leader thanks Zhou Yongkang for the visit and conveys his greetings to the leadership of the CPC, including Hu Jintao. The delegation departs from Pyongyang after wrapping up its three-day visit.
12 A delegation of the Kim Il-sung Socialist Youth League headed by First-secretary of its Central Committee Ri Yong-chol travels to China.
12 Russian Ambassador Valery Sukhinin hosts a reception at his embassy to mark the 62nd anniversary of the establishment of North Korea-Russia diplomatic relations.
12 The KCNA reports that the Grand People's Study House in Pyongyang has begun offering a computer-accessible online-lecture service.
12 The KCNA reports that Kim Jong-il had a photo session with military commanding officers who took part in the parade to celebrate the 65th birthday of the WPK.
12 Premier Choe Yong-rim sends a congratulatory message to Fredrik Reinfeldt upon his reappointment as prime minister of Sweden.
13 Buddhists from the two Koreas hold a prayer event for national reunification in the North's Mount Kumgang. Present at the service from the DPRK side were office-bearers of the Central Committee of the (North) Korean Buddhist Federation and from the ROK (South Korea) priests of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism in the South.
13 Kim Yong-il, alternate politburo member and secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK, receives a delegation of the Party for Free Motherland of Brazil headed by its International Secretary Nelson Chaves dos Santos.
13 A delegation of the Hungarian Communist Workers' Party and a delegation of the State Intellectual Property Office of the People's Republic of China arrive in Pyongyang separately.
