SEOUL (Yonhap) -- The following is a chronological review of major developments related to North Korea from Nov. 4 to Nov. 10, 2010.

4 Yang Hyong-sop, vice president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA), receives Nasri Gustaman, the newly-appointed Indonesian ambassador to North Korea.

   4 The (North) Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reports Premier Choe Yong-rim made a visit to northeast China, where he met and held talks with Zhang Dejiang, a vice premier of the State Council of China in Changchun, Jilin Province.

   4 A national art exhibition opens at the Pyongyang Indoor Stadium to mark the recent conference of the ruling Workers' Party of (North) Korea (WPK) and the 65th WPK anniversary.

   4 Aleksandr Sokolov, mayor of Khabarovsk in Russia, and his party arrive at Pyongyang.

   4 Choe Yong-rim sends a message of sympathy to Abhisit Vejjajiva, prime minister of Thailand, over the victims and families in connection with a severe flood that hit Thailand, claiming huge casualties and material losses.

   4 North Korea defeats Japan 2-1 in the semifinals of the Asian U-16 Football Championship held in Uzbekistan.

   5 Choe Ryong-hae, secretary of the WPK's central committee, meets a delegation of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Vietnam led by Vo Van Thuong, first-secretary of its Central Committee, at the Mansudae Assembly Hall in Pyongyang.

   5 The Rodong Sinmun, the newspaper for the WPK, in a signed article urges closer dialogue between the two Koreas.

   5 The two Koreas end their latest reunions of families separated by war six decades ago. The two rounds of back-to-back reunions briefly brought together a total of 830 North and South Koreans.

   5 Kim Yong-nam, president of the SPA Presidium, receives former Minister of Cooperation of France Bernard Debre, a member of the National Assembly from the People's Movement Union, visiting North Korea, at the Mansudae Assembly Hall.

   5 On a visit to the northeastern region of China, Choe Yong-rim and his party visit the Jilin Yuwen Middle School, where late North Korean founder Kim Il-sung attended.

   5 Li Changchun, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), receives a delegation of the Rodong Sinmun headed by its Editor-in-chief Kim Ki Ryong on a visit to China at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

   6 A North Korean military delegation led by Ri Yong-ho, vice marshal of the (North) Korean People's Army, returns home after visiting Cuba.

   6 Kim Yong-nam sends a message of sympathy to Raul Castro Ruz, president of the Council of State and president of the Council of Ministers of Cuba, in connection with a recent plane crash that claimed many lives in Cuba.

   6 The KCNA reports that Jo Myong-rok, a top North Korean military official, died of chronic heart disease at the age of 82.

   6 The KCNA reports that North Korean leader Kim Jong-il watched a performance given by the art squad of the Central Broadcasting Committee of (North) Korea on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the (North) Korean Central Broadcasting Station. In a separate report, the KCNA says Kim attended a performance given by the art squad of the Central Committee of the Kim Il-sung Socialist Youth League.

   7 North Korea wins the Asian U-16 Football Championship held in Uzbekistan after defeating their Uzbek rivals 2-0 in the finals.

   8 Kim Yong-nam sends a message of greetings to Norodom Sihamoni, king of Cambodia, on the occasion of the 57th anniversary of its independence.

   8 The Rodong Sinmun blasts Seoul's announcement to consult with the United States on missile defense, calling it the "provocative acts" aimed at chilling prospects of improving the North-South relationship.

   8 The KCNA reports that Choe Yong-rim and his party visited various production facilities and historic sites in Shenyang and Dailan, Liaoning Province, during a visit to northeast China.

   8 Kim Yong-nam receives Aleksandr Sokolov, mayor of Khabarovsk of Russia, and his party.

   8 Kim Jong-il, together with his son and heir apparent Kim Jong-un, pays respects at the bier of late military official Jo Myong-rok.

   8 Kim Yong-nam sends a congratulatory message to Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete on his reelection as president of Tanzania.

   9 A delegation of the Buddhist Federation of Korea led by Chairman Sim Sang-jin departs for Sri Lanka to attend the 25th General Conference of the World Fellowship of Buddhists.

   9 A delegation of the Xinhua News Agency of China headed by Lu Jun, permanent deputy secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC), arrives in Pyongyang.

   9 The CPC Central Committee and the CPC Central Military Commission send a wreath to the bier of late military official Jo Myong-rok, expressing condolences over his death.

   9 The North Korean Asian Games team led by Jong In-chol, vice minister of Physical Culture and Sports, leaves for Guangzhou, China.

   9 John Levis, professor at Stanford University in the U.S., and his party arrive in Pyongyang.

   9 A delegation of the Xinhua news agency of China headed by Lu Jin, permanent deputy secretary of the CPC of the agency, flies into Pyongyang.

   10 A state funeral service for Jo Myong-rok is held in Pyongyang, with the presence of main figures from the party, cabinet and the military. Jo is buried at the Patriotic Martyrs Cemetery in Pyongyang.

   10 Kim Yong-nam sends a message of greetings to Jose Eduardo Dos Santos, president of Angola, on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of its independence.

   10 The 29th Yun I-sang concert is opened at the Yunisang Concert Hall in Pyongyang, with Minister of Culture An Tong-chun and other officials in attendance.
