SEOUL (Yonhap) -- The following is a chronological review of major developments related to North Korea from October 27-November 2, 2011.

  
October
27 A spokesperson for the North Korean foreign ministry says the nation remains unchanged in its desire to resume six-party talks at an early date without preconditions, in a comment on two-day nuclear talks with the United States from Oct. 24 in Geneva.

   27 The (North) Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) says the Phibada (Blood Sea) Opera Troupe is touring China with the opera "Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai."

   27 Kim Yong-nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA), sends a message of greeting to Turkmenian President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov on Turkmenistan's national day.

   27 The 22nd national program contest and exhibition open at the Three-Revolution Exhibition Hall in Pyongyang.

   27 Premier Choe Yong-rim meets with Yun Gongmin, general manager of the Hetian Group Company of China, at the Mansudae Assembly Hall in Pyongyang.

   27 A cultural event on the "Day of Germany" takes place in Pyongyang to mark the 10th anniversary of the establishment of North Korea-Germany diplomatic relations.

   27 The KCNA says the Pyongyang Circus Theater has been renovated.

   28 The KCNA says an atlas showing census results in the form of geographical distribution has been published in North Korea recently in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund.

   28 The delegation of the Beijing Service Bureau for Diplomatic Missions of China headed by Deputy Director-General Lu Huizao leaves Pyongyang.

   28 The KCNA says the (North) Korean Film Studio has produced a new feature film, "Flower Blooming in Snow," which is based on a real life story of a woman manager in Jagang Province.

   28 The Kumkop (Gold Cup) Combined Foodstuff Factory for Sportspersons is completed in Pyongyang.

   28 The KCNA says North Korean leader Kim Jong-il has sent a present to Professor Stanislav Kalinin, dean of the Conducting Faculty of the Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatory of Russia, on his 70th birthday.

   29 Kim Jong-il visits Kanggye General Tractor Plant, Jangjagang Machine Tool Factory, February 8 General Machinery Plant, Huichon Ryonha General Machinery Plant and Huichon Precision Machinery Plan in Jangang Province bordering China, along with his son Kim Jong-un.

   29 Kim Kye-gwan, first-vice foreign minister, separately meets with Andrey Denisov, Russian first-deputy foreign minister, and Aleksei Borodavkin, Russian vice foreign minister, in Moscow.

   29 A North Korean delegation of the Bureau of Earthquake headed by Director Jang Jong-nam returns home after visiting China.

   29 A delegation for the Relations with Korean Peninsula of the European Parliament headed by Chairman Christian Ehler arrives in Pyongyang.

   29 Yun Gongmin, general manager of the Hetian Group Company of China, leaves Pyongyang.

   29-30 Premier Choe Yong-rim visits cooperative farms in South Hwanghae Province, including the Jangguk Cooperative Farm.

   31 Kim Jong-il visits the (North) Korean People's Army (KPA) Unit No. 789, along with Kim Jong-un, his son and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of (North) Korea (WPK).

   31 Kim Jong-il meets with Liu Hongcai, Chinese ambassador to North Korea, with Jong-un in attendance.

   31 A South-North Buddhist joint ceremony is held at Ryongthong Temple in Kaesong, a North Korean city near the inter-Korean border, to mark the sixth anniversary of the restoration of the temple.

1 The KCNA says aerial stunt team "Conquerors" of the Pyongyang Circus has won the top prize Gold Lion at the 13th Wuqiao International Acrobatics Festival held in Hebei Province, China, from Oct. 22 to 30.

   1 Kim Yong-il, secretary of the WPK Central Committee, meets with an Italian delegation of assemblymen from different political parties headed by Mauro Del Vecchio, a senator from the Democratic Party of Italy.

   2 The KCNA says the North Korean government will further develop friendly and cooperative relations with all UNESCO member nations.

   2 Kim Jong-il watches an exercise of the combined unit of the Air Force of the KPA honored with the title of O Jung Hup-led Seventh Regiment, along with Kim Jong-un.
