SEOUL (Yonhap) -- The following is a chronological review of major developments related to North Korea from May 3-9, 2012.

3 The (North) Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reports North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has inspected Air and Anti-air Force Command of the (North) Korean People's Army (KPA).

   3 Kim Yong-nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA), receives credentials from Alexandr Timonin, Russian ambassador to the DPRK (North Korea), at the Mansudae Assembly Hall in Pyongyang.

   3 Talks are held between Choe Thae-bok, chairman of the SPA, and Pany Yathortou, president of the Lao National Assembly, at the Mansudae Assembly Hall.

   3 A national scientific and technological festival is closed with due ceremony at the Three-Revolution Exhibition in Pyongyang.

   3 A reception hosted by the SPA is held for the visiting delegation of the Lao National Assembly at the Mansudae Assembly Hall.

   3 A dedication ceremony of Tanchon Port, located in South Hamgyong Province, is held with Premier Choe Yong-rim attending.

   3 The KCNA says that the project for laying the Nampho-Pyongyang seawater pipeline has been completed in the DPRK (North Korea).

   3-4 The 14th Pyongyang symposium on medical science of Koreans at home and abroad takes place at the People's Palace of Culture in Pyongyang.

   4 Kim Yong-nam meets with the visiting delegation of the Lao National Assembly.

   4 Choe Yong-rim learns about the economic work in Hamhung City.

   4 Choe Ryong-hae, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of (North) Korea (WPK) and director of the General Political Bureau of the KPA, learns about the embankment project on Rungra Islet on the spot.

   4 The KCNA says Premier Choe Yong-rim inspects the Tanchon Magnesia Factory and the Tanchon Smeltery.

   4 The KCNA says the State Stamp Bureau issues a postage stamp to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Tree Principles for National Reunification.

   4 Kangsong Health Complex for workers is newly built in a machine factory far away from Pyongyang.

   5 Kim Yong-nam sends a congratulatory message to Janos Ader upon his election as president of Hungary.

   5 Pak Ui-chun, foreign minister, leaves Pyongyang to take part in the ministerial meeting of non-aligned countries due in Egypt.

   5 The KCNA says the 15th Pyongyang Spring International Trade Fair will take place at the Three-Revolution Exhibition from May 14 to 17.

   5 The Delegation of the Lao National Assembly leaves Pyongyang.

   6 The KCNA says Kim Yong-nam will soon pay an official goodwill visit to Indonesia, at the invitation of its President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, and Singapore.

   6 The KCNA says a LED exhibition was held on Thongil Street of Pyongyang. On display there were various kinds of LED lights made by the Research Institute of the Electronic of the Ministry of Electronics Industry.

   7 Kim Yong-nam receives credentials form Manibadrakh Ganbold, Mongolian ambassador to DPRK, at Mansudae Assembly Hall.

   7 The delegation of the Kimilsung Socialist Youth League, headed by its Seretary Ri Yong-hwan, returns home from China after taking part in the events to mark the 90th founding anniversary of the Communist Youth League of China.

   7 The KCNA says the State Stamp Bureau issued four kinds of stamps in commemoration of the 30th Olympic Games in London.

   8 The KCNA says Kim Jong-un has made public the work "On Effecting a Drastic Turn in Land Management to Meet the Requirements for Building a Thriving Socialist Nation" in the run-up to a meeting of activists of the general mobilization movement for land management.

   8 Kim Yong-nam meets with the visiting friendship delegation of the China Association for International Friendly Contact, headed by its President Li Zhaoxing, at Mansudae Assembly Hall.

   8 A high-ranking military delegation, headed by Vice Marshal of the KPA Ri Yong-ho, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee and chief of the General Staff of the KPA, leaves Pyongyang to visit Laos.

   8 A meeting of activists of the general mobilization movement for land management takes place at the People's Palace of Culture in Pyongyang.

   8-9 The third national exhibition of medical appliances is held at the Grand People's Study House in Pyongyang.

   9 The KCNA says Kim Jong-un inspects the Mangyongdae Funfair in Pyongyang.

   9 Kim Jong-un has a photo session with the participants in a meeting of activists of the general mobilization movement for land management.

   9 The 7th Symposium on Architectural Aesthetics takes place at the People's Palace of Culture in Pyongyang.

   9 A national scientific and technological symposium on turning cities into thick woodland and greenery takes place in Pyongyang under the sponsorship of the Central Committee of the Nature Conservation Union of (North) Korea.

   9 An Olympic Solidarity Coaches Course for shooting is closed in Pyongyang, wrapping up a week run.

   9 The Lao delegation of the Women's Union headed by Sysay Leudedmounsone, president of its central committee, arrives in Pyongyang by air.
