SEOUL (Yonhap) -- The following is a chronological review of major developments related to North Korea from June 21-27, 2012.

21 The (North) Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) says the closing ceremony of the sports contest for the Songun (military-first) torch prize took place in Haeju, South Hwanghae Province, on June 20.

   21 The KCNA slams South Korean media as the "Reptile Media" for their reporting on recent developments, including former North Korean leader Kim Il-sung's birthday.

   21 The KCAN says North Korea decided to engrave the portrait of smiling Kim Il-sung on "Order of Kim Il-sung," "Gold Medal of Kim Il-sung Prize," "Medal of Kim Il-sung Youth Honor Prize" and "Badge of Kim Il-sung Children Honor Prize."

   22 The KCNA says Kim Yong-nam, the president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA), sent a message of greetings to Grand Duke of Luxembourg Henri on its national day.

   22 The KCNA says Pyongyang citizens began moving into new houses recently built in Changjon Street, Pyongyang.

   22 The 100th performance of the Russian opera "Evgeni Onegin" is staged at the music hall of Pyongyang Kim Won-gyun Conservatory, which was watched by former North Korean leader Kim Il-sung in 1958.

   22 The KCNA says damage from a long spell of drought has been growing across North Korea.

   23 A delegation of the North Korean Foreign Ministry led by Vice Minister Kung Sok-ung leaves Pyongyang for Russia.

   23 A delegation of the Christian Democratic People's Party of Switzerland led by Rene Imoberdorf, a member of the Council of States from the party, arrives in Pyongyang.

   23 The KCNA says the Ryugyong Health Complex now under construction by soldier builders on the bank of the River Taedong will be completed in the near future.

   23 The KCNA says North Hwanghae Province, the western part of North Korea, suffers severe drought damage.

   23 The North Korean team beats its rival Thailand 4-2 in the preliminary match for the AFC U-22.

   24 Kim Yong-nam sends a message of greeting to Armando Emilio Guebuza, the president of the Republic of Mozambique, on its independence day.

   25 Rodong Sinmun criticizes the South Korean and the U.S. authorities as "arch criminals" for the escalating tension on the Korean Peninsula and the rest of Northeast Asia.

   25 A delegation of the International Affairs Institute (IAI) led by Vice Director Kim Ul-ho leaves Pyongyang to visit China.

   25 The delegations of the Workers' Party of (North) Korea (WPK) and the Christian Democratic People's Party of Switzerland hold talks in Pyongyang.

   25 North Korean leader Kim Jong-un sends many vehicles to the People's Theater, which is located in Changjon Street, Pyongyang, as gifts.

   26 Premier Choe Yong-rim inspects plants, including the Kimchaek Iron and Steel Complex in North Hamgyong Province.
26 A delegation of the General Bureau of Civil Aviation of North Korea headed by its Director General Kang Ki-sop comes back home after wrapping up its visit to Russia.

   26 The 4th commodity exhibition opens at Pyongyang Department Store No. 1.

   27 A delegation of Swedish parliamentarians from the ruling coalition parties headed by Johan Linander, a member of the Executive Committee of the Centre Party of Sweden who is the vice chairman of the Judicial Affairs Committee of Parliament, arrives in Pyongyang.
