SEOUL (Yonhap) -- The following is a chronological review of major developments related to North Korea from June 28-July 4, 2012.

  
June
28 Delegations from the Workers' Party of (North) Korea (WPK) and Swedish lawmakers of the ruling coalition parties hold talks in Pyongyang.

   28 The (North) Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) says North Korea and Russia signed on June 27 a 2013-2014 exchange plan between their foreign ministries in Moscow.

   28 Premier Choe Yong-rim inspects coal and ore mines in the northern area of North Korea including the Soksong Coal Mine, the Sangnong Mine and Toksong Mine.

   28 A delegation of the General Federation of Trade Unions of (North) Korea headed by Han U-pal, vice chairman of its central committee, leaves for Vietnam and Laos.

   28 A delegation of the General Federation of Science and Technology of (North) Korea returns home, ending its visit to Russia.

   28 Premier Choe Yong-rim sends a congratulatory message to Antonis Samaras on his election as prime minister of Greece.

   29 The KCNA says Pyongyang Changjon Primary School, Kyongsang Kindergarten and Kyongsang Nursery opened in newly-built Changjon Street, Pyongyang.

   29 A delegation of the Agricultural and Forestry Workers Union of China led by Wang Junwei, vice president of its National Committee, leaves Pyongyang.

   29 Yang Hyong-sop, vice president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA), meets with a delegation of the Christian Democratic People's Party of Switzerland in Pyongyang.

   29 The 38th National Sports Contest of School Youth and Children for Peak Jongil Prize is closed in Jongju City, North Pyongan Province.

   29 The KCNA says the international tour of Mount Kumgang by boat from Rason to Mount Kumgang was launched.

   30 A delegation of the State Commission of Quality Control headed by Chairman Choe Kwang-rae leaves Pyongyang for Vietnam and China.

   30 A public health delegation headed by Vice Minister of Public Health Kang Ha-guk leaves Pyongyang to attend a high-level meeting for preparing the 65th meeting of the southeast Asian region of the WHO.

   30 A delegation of the Foreign Ministry led by Vice Minister Kung Sok-ung returns home after visiting Russia.
30 A delegation of the Christian Democratic People's Party of Switzerland leaves Pyongyang, winding up its visit to North Korea.

   30 North Korea beats Cambodia 3-0 in a group F preliminary match of the AFC under 22 Soccer Championship.

1 North Korean leader Kim Jong-un visits the Rungna People's Recreation Ground nearing its completion and the Breast Cancer Institute of the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital now under construction, in Pyongyang.

   1 A delegation of the International Affairs Institute led by Vice Director Kim Ul-ho returns home after visiting China.

   2 The KCNA says the development of the Rason Economic and Trade Zone located in the northern tip of North Korea is making rapid progress.

   2 A delegation of Swedish parliamentarians from the ruling coalition parties leaves Pyongyang, wrapping up its visit to North Korea.

   2 Premier Choe Yong-rim visits the Mangyongdae and Mt. Taesong amusement parks under renovation in Pyongyang.

   2 Kim Jong-un visits the Pyongyang Hosiery Factory and the Children's Department Store in Pyongyang.

   2 A delegation of the KCNA led by Director General Kim Pyong-ho leaves Pyongyang to attend in the 2nd world media summit to be held in Moscow.

   2 A delegation of the Central Committee of the Democratic Front for the Reunification of Korea led by Kim Wan-su, director of the Secretariat of the Committee, leaves Pyongyang for Vietnam and Laos.

   2 Russian nuclear envoy Grigory Semyonovich Rogbinov ends his visit to North Korea starting June 29.
3 Premier Choe Yong-rim sends a congratulatory message to Jean-Marc Ayrault upon his appointment as prime minister of France.

   4 A meeting of trade union members and other workers is held in front of the statues of former North Korean leaders Kim Il-sung and Kim Jong-il in Pyongyang to mark the 18th anniversary of the founder's death.

   4 The North's State Stamp Publishing Bureau issues a new stamp to commemorate the erection of the statues of Kim Il-sung and Kim Jong-il.
