SEOUL (Yonhap) -- The following is a chronological review of major developments related to North Korea from July 5-11, 2012.

5 The (North) Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) says North Korean leader Kim Jong-un visited Pyongyang Airport. In the airport, he said, "It is a global trend for an airport to serve as a satellite city."

   5 A delegation of the Union of Architects of (North) Korea led by its Vice Chairman Sim Yong-hak leaves Pyongyang to visit Mongolia.

   5 A delegation of the International Union of Agricultural and Foodstuff Workers led by its Secretary General Julien Huck leaves Pyongyang.

   5 Kim Yong-nam, head of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA), meets with outgoing Swedish ambassador to North Korea Barbro Elm.

   5 The KCNA says that a plan for cooperation in the fields of standardization, measurement and product quality control for 2012-2013 between the North Korean State Commission of Quality Control and the Vietnamese Directorate for Standards and Quality was signed in Hanoi.

   5 A remembrance concert by youth and schoolchildren called "Song of Eternal Sun" takes place at the Central Youth Hall in Pyongyang on the 18th anniversary of the death of the North's founder Kim Il-sung.

   6 The KCNA bashes South Korean President Lee Myung-bak for seeking to sign a military agreement with Japan.

   6 An inter-governmental treaty on order in North Korea-Russia border areas is signed in Moscow.

   7 Kim Jong-un watches a demonstration performance given by the newly organized Moranbong band.

   7 A spokesman for the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of (North) Korea (CPRK) denounces South Korean President Lee Myung-bak for warning against the North's possible armed provocations.

   8 Kim Jong-un visits the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun in Pyongyang to pay tribute to the late Kim Il-sung on the 18th anniversary of his death, along with senior officials from the party and military.

   8 A concert commemorating the 18th anniversary of the death of the North's founder Kim Il-sung is held at the People's Theater in Pyongyang with the participation of Kim Yong-nam.

   9 A delegation of the Academy of Social Sciences headed by its Vice President Ji Sung-chol leaves Pyongyang to visit China.

   10 A delegation led by Foreign Minister Pak Ui-chun leaves Pyongyang for Cambodia to take part in the ministerial meeting of the ASEAN Regional Forum.

   10 A delegation of the KCNA led by Director General Kim Pyong-ho returns home after attending the 2nd world media summit in Moscow.

   10 A public health delegation led by Vice Minister of Public Health Kang Ha-guk comes back home after taking part in a high-level meeting on preparing the 65th Meeting of the Southeast Asian Region of the WHO held in India.

   10 A delegation of Economic, Social and Cultural Council of the Council of Ministers of Cambodia led by Yim Nolla, senior minister of Cambodia, leaves Pyongyang, winding up its visit to North Korea.

   10 A reception is held at Okryu Restaurant in Pyongyang to mark the 51st anniversary of the treaty of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance between North Korea and China.

   11 A delegation of Korean youth and students in Japan headed by Kim Yong-ju, a department director of the Central Standing Committee of the Korean Youth League in Japan, arrives in Pyongyang to visit North Korea.

   11 A reception hosted by the Chinese ambassador to North Korea is held at Koryo Hotel in Pyongyang to mark the 51st anniversary of the treaty of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance between North Korea and China.

   11 The KCNA says various events have been held in North Korea to mark World Population Day falling on July 11.
