SEOUL (Yonhap) -- The following is a chronological review of major developments related to North Korea from July 12-18, 2012.

12 The Kimilsung Socialist Youth League holds its first conference in a decade to revise its rules and pledge its allegiance to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

   12 A delegation of the General Federation of Trade Unions of (North) Korea (GFTUK) headed by Han U-phal returns home after visiting Vietnam and Laos.

   12 The group for the first Yanji-Mt. Kumgang international tour by plane led by Ji Kum Nyo, general manager of the Yanbian Tianyu International Tourist Agency of China, arrives in Pyongyang.

   13 A ceremony is held to mark the completion of the Hwangnam Youth Saltern.

   13 The (North) Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) says Foreign Minister Pak Ui-chun, head of the North Korean delegation to the ministerial meeting of the 19th ASEAN Regional Forum held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, called on the U.S. to cease its hostile policy toward the North.

   14 The KCNA says North Korean leader Kim Jong-un had a photo session with the exemplary soldiers of the (North) Korean People's Internal Security Forces (KPISF) who performed labor feats on major construction projects.

   14 A film delegation headed by Pak Chun-nam, vice culture minister and director of the General Bureau of Film, leaves Pyongyang for China to take part in a preview of the North Korea-China co-produced film "Promise in Pyongyang."

   14 A friendship delegation led by Ri Kil-chun, chairman of the Nampho City People's Committee leaves Pyongyang for China.

   14 A delegation of the State Commission of Quality Control led by its Chairman Choe Kwang-rae comes back home, winding up its visit to Vietnam and China.

   14 Kim Jong-un visits Kyongsang Kindergarten in Pyongyang along with Jang Song-thaek, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of (North) Korea (WPK).

   14 The KCNA says Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen had a friendly talk with the delegation led by North Korean Foreign Minister Pak Ui-chun.

   15 The KCNA says early peaches produced in Kwail County, South Hwanghae Province have been provided to Pyongyang citizens.

   15 The KCNA says Ri Yong-ho was relieved of all his posts including member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau, member of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee and vice chairman of the WPK Central Military Commission due to illness.

   16 A delegation from the Academy of Social Sciences led by its vice president Ji Sung-chol returns home from China.

   16 Foreign Ministry delegations from Iran, Vietnam and Thailand arrive in Pyongyang.

   17 Hyon Yong-chol is awarded the title of vice marshal of the KPA.

   17 The KCNA says a climatic e-map has been developed in North Korea, to help domestic farmers acquire details of weather conditions.

   17 A North Korean Olympic team led by Kim Pyong-sik, vice minister of Physical Culture and Sports, leaves Pyongyang to take part in the 30th Olympic Games in London.

   17 A conference of the GFTUK is held in Pyongyang.

   17 The KCNA says state commendations were awarded to officials and working people who performed feats in the construction of the housing district in Changjon Street in Pyongyang.

   17 A delegation led by Foreign Minister Pak Ui-chun returns home after participating in the ministerial meeting of the ASEAN Regional Forum in Cambodia.

   17 Kim Yong-nam, president of the SPA Presidium, meets with the visiting Iranian Foreign Ministry delegation led by Vice Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi.

   17 A delegation from the Central Committee of the Democratic Front for the Reunification of Korea, led by director of its Secretariat Kim Wan-su, returns home, after visiting Vietnam and Laos.

   17 A delegation from the Union of Architectures of (North) Korea, led by its vice chairman Sim Yong-hak, returns home from a visit to Mongolia.

   17 Four-star general Hyon Yong-chol is promoted to vice marshal.

   17 Kim Yong-nam meets with a foreign ministry delegation of Iran led by Vice Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi.

   18 Kim Jong-un is awarded the title of marshal of North Korea.

   18 Foreign Minister Pak Ui-chun meets separately with a Vietnamese foreign ministry delegation and an Iranian foreign ministry delegation.

   18 The KCNA says servicepersons across North Korea pledged their loyalty to Kim Jong-un on news of his being awarded the title of marshal.

   18 The KCNA says Hwang Hyong-chol has been appointed as ambassador to Libya.

   18 A friendship delegation of the General Bureau of the Diplomatic Corps Affairs led by General Director Mun Song-mo leaves Pyongyang for China and Laos.

   18 Delegations from the Vietnamese and Iranian foreign ministries leave Pyongyang, winding up their visit to North Korea.

   18 A conference of the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea (UAWK) takes place in Pyongyang.

   18 A dancing party for servicepersons of the (North) Korean People's Army is held in the plaza of the April 25 House of Culture to celebrate conferment of the marshal title to their leader Kim Jong-un.

   18 Radio Pyongyang said Vice Marshal Hyon Yong-chol attended a military rally organized to celebrate Kim Jong-un's appointment as marshal and referred to him as chief of the military's general staff.
