SEOUL (Yonhap) -- The following is a chronological review of major developments related to North Korea from September 20-26, 2012.

20 The 13th Pyongyang International Film Festival opens with some 50 organizations from about 30 countries presenting more than 90 pieces of features, documentary, shorts and children's films.

   20 Kim Yong-nam, the president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA), meets with Pratap Singh, the outgoing Indian ambassador to the DPRK (North Korea), at the Mansudae Assembly Hall in Pyongyang.

   20 A delegation of the Workers' Party of Turkey headed by Dasar Karadag, a member of the Political Bureau of its Central Committee, arrives in Pyongyang.
20 A delegation headed by Vice Foreign Minister Pak Kil-yon leaves Pyongyang for New York to take part in the 67th UN General Assembly.

   20 A spokesman for the foreign ministry accuses the United States on the U.S. announcement of a plan to build a new radar base in Japan to cope with the North's threat of a missile attack.

   20 Premier Choe Yong-rim makes a field survey of the Hungnam Fertilizer Complex and the February 8 Vinalon Complex in South Hamgyong Province.

   21 The 10th National (North) Korean Dress Exhibition closes after a three-day run at the Central Youth Hall in Pyongyang on the bank of Taedong River.

   21 A delegation of the Eurasia-Pacific UNINET led by Vice Chairman Wolf-Dieter Rausch arrives in Pyongyang to take part in the joint academic seminar of Kim Il-sung University and the Eurasia-Pacific UNINET.

   21 Kim Yong-nam, the president of the SPA Presidium, sends a message of greeting to Armenian President Serge Sarkissian on the national holiday of Armenia.

   21 Kim Yong-nam sends greetings to Maltese President George Abela on the occasion of the 48th anniversary of the independence of Malta.

   22 North Korean leader Kim Jong-un gives field guidance to the enlarged Pyongyang Vegetable Science Institute and Pyongyang Floriculture Institute.

   22 Delegations from China, Germany and Taipei arrive in Pyongyang to take part in the 8th Pyongyang Autumn International Trade Fair.

   22 A financial delegation led by Ki Kwang-ho, the vice minister of Finance, returns to Pyongyang after visiting Russia.

   22 The KCNA says the U.S. is persistently conducting nuclear weapons tests to reinforce nuclear forces.

   22 The Southwest Front Command of the (North) Korean People's Army (KPA) denounces in a press release that "the South Korean puppet forces' grave intrusion into the waters of the West Sea is again going beyond the tolerance limit in the season for catching blue crab."

   24 The 8th Pyongyang Autumn International Trade Fair opens with due ceremony at the Three-Revolution Exhibition in Pyongyang.

   24 Samlee Plianbangchang, the director of the Regional Office for South-East Asia of the World Health Organization, and his party arrive in Pyongyang.

   24 Joint scientific conference of Kim Il-sung University and the Eurasia-Pacific Uninet opened with due ceremony at Kim Il-sung University in Pyongyang.

   25 The 6th session of the 12th Supreme People's Assembly is held in Pyongyang with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in attendance. The session promulgates ordinance on enforcing universal 12-year compulsory education.

   25 A national consumer goods exhibition closes in Pyongyang starting from Sept. 19.

   25 Samlee Plianbangchang, the director of the Regional Office for South-East Asia of the World Health Organization, and his party visit Kim Man-yu Hospital in Pyongyang.

   25 The joint scientific conference of Kim Il-sung University and the Eurasia-Pacific Uninet is held at Kim Il-sung University.

   26 Yang Hyong-sop, the vice president of the SPA Presidium, meets with the delegation of the Chinese State Administration of Radio, Film and Television led by Vice Minister Li Wei at the Mansudae Assembly Hall.

   26 The Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries and the Central Committee of the DPRK-China Friendship Association hold a reception at Chongryu Restaurant in Pyongyang prior to the 63rd founding anniversary of China, slated for Oct. 1.

   26 Samlee Plianbangchang, the director of the Regional Office for South-East Asia of the World Health Organization, returns home after a three-day visit starting on Sept. 24.
