SEOUL (Yonhap) -- The following is a chronological review of major developments related to North Korea from November 8-14, 2012.

8 Kim Yong-nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA), sends a message of greeting to King Norodom Sihamoni of Cambodia on the 59th anniversary of the independence of Cambodia.

   8 Premier Choe Yong-rim sends a message of greeting to Hun Sen, prime minister of Cambodia, on the occasion of the 59th anniversary of its independence.

   8 Chairman of the SPA Choe Thae-bok meets with the visiting joint delegation of four political parties of the State Duma of the Russian Federation at Mansudae Assembly Hall in Pyongyang.

   8 Foreign Minister Pak Ui-chun meets with Mansour Chavoshi, Iranian Ambassador to the DPRK (North Korea), who paid a courtesy call on him.

   8 The (North) Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) says Kim Kwang-hyok and his wife, who returned to the North from South Korea, were interviewed by local and foreign reporters at the People's Palace of Culture in Pyongyang. According to the KCNA, they returned to the North in September, disillusioned with the South, to which they had defected.

   9 The KCNA says the DPRK and Japanese governments will hold talks in Ulan Bator, Mongolia, on Nov. 15-16 to discuss issues for the improvement of bilateral relations.

   9 A joint concert by performers of the Pyongyang Kim Won-gyun Conservatory and the Munich Chamber Orchestra of Germany is held in the conservatory's music hall.

   9 Premier Choe Yong-rim learns about the preparations for creating a vast field of grass in Sepho, Pyongan and Ichon counties of Kangwon Province and turning it into a large-scale stock farming base of the country.

   10 The title of labor hero and Gold Medal and Order of National Flag First Class are awarded to seven women who gave birth to many sons and daughters and are bringing them up to be dependable persons.

   10 A government economic delegation led by Vice Minister of Foreign Trade Ri Myong-san leaves Pyongyang to visit Egypt.

   10 The KCNA says more than 230,000 service persons, people from all walks of life, youth and students, overseas Koreans and foreigners have visited the Pyongyang Folk Park in the two months since its opening.

   11 Kim Yong-nam sends a message of greeting to Angolan President Jose Eduardo Dos Santos on the occasion of the 37th anniversary of its independence.

   11 The KCNA says the DPRK will celebrate its first Mother's Day, and the 4th National Meeting of Mothers is to be held following the institution of the day. North Korea has designated Nov. 16 as the Mother's Day.

   12 The KCNA says roller skating has become an enjoyable leisure sport for young people in the city of Pyongyang.

   12 The KCNA says North Korean archaeologists have recently discovered more historical relics in Richon-ri, Sungho County, North Hwanghae Province.
12 A delegation of Korean women in China headed by Chon Jae-ryon, director of the Women's Affairs Department of the General Association of Koreans in China, arrives in Pyongyang to take part in the 4th National Meeting of Mothers.

   12 Multiple-launch rocket systems "Nyomaeng-ho" associated with the ardent patriotism of the women across the country are presented to units of the (North) Korean People's Army (KPA) on the occasion of the 4th National Meeting of Mothers.

   12 A delegation headed by Vice Minister of Electric Power Industry Kim Yong-chol departs Pyongyang to take part in the 64th meeting of the Board of Directors of Korea-China Hydroelectric Power Company to be held in China.

   12 Kanji Inoki, president of the Inoki Genom Joint Co., Ltd. of Japan, and his party arrive in Pyongyang.

   12 Pak Kun-gwang, chairman of the DPRK-Japan Friendship Association, talks with a visiting Japanese delegation at Pyongyang Koryo Hotel.

   13 Kim Yong-il, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of (North) Korea (WPK), meets with Kanji Inoki and his party. Kim is concurrently the adviser of the DPRK-Japan Friendship Association.

   13 State commendations are awarded to mothers for their contributions to the building of a thriving socialist nation ahead of the 4th National Meeting of Mothers in a ceremony at the April 25 House of Culture in Pyongyang.

   13 Delegates to the 4th national meeting of mothers arrive in Pyongyang.

   13 The delegation of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly led by Ri Jong-hyok, chairman of the DPRK-EU friendship parliamentary group, returns home after visiting European countries.

   13 North Korea issues greeting cards with phrases including "Mother's Day," "November 16th," "Happy Mother's Day" and "I Love Mother" in different calligraphic styles on the occasion of Mother's Day.

   14 Rodong Sinmun criticizes a Japanese delegate for saying, "The comfort woman issue has already found a solution," at the recent 14th meeting of the Universal Periodic Review of the UN Human Rights Council.

   14 The KCNA says parks for physical training have been built in various parts of Pyongyang.

   14 Minju Joson slams South Korea's 2012 White Paper on Defense, which labels North Korea the "principal enemy."
