SEOUL (Yonhap) -- The following is a chronological review of major developments related to North Korea from January 10-16, 2013.

  
January
10 The Minju Joson dismisses remarks of Chon Young-u, the top advisor for the diplomacy and security of South Korea's Presidential office Cheong Wa Dae, as an open politically motivated provocation and claims Chon irritated and insulted the DPRK (North Korea) by distorting facts.

   10 The delegation of Google Inc. of the U.S. headed by Bill Richardson, the former governor of New Mexico State, leaves Pyongyang.

   10 The (North) Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) says the metal industrial sector of the DPRK has experienced an upsurge in production from the outset of the year.

   10 The KCNA says all the people in the DPRK have turned out in an effort to build an economic giant with firm confidence and courage, after receiving the New Year address of supreme leader Kim Jong-un.

   10 Vice Premier Kang Sok-ju meets with the visiting Chinese government economic and trade delegation headed by Li Jinzao, the vice minister of commerce, at the Mansudae Assembly Hall in Pyongyang.

   11 Rodong Sinmun calls for respect for joint declarations between the two Koreas and their implementation.

   11 Spokesmen for the National Defense Commission (NDC) and the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of (North) Korea issue statements to rap the South Korean government "for frantically kicking up anti-DPRK confrontation and war moves from the outset of the year."

   11 The KCNA says the Agricultural Nano Technology Institute of the Academy of Agricultural Science of the DPRK has developed various kinds of nano-based agrochemicals.

   11 The Chinese government delegation headed by Li Jinzao leaves Pyongyang for home after attending the seventh meeting of the DPRK and China inter-governmental committee for cooperation.

   12 The Rodong Sinmun accuses South Korea's ruling Saenuri Party for pushing to adopt the North Korean human rights act saying, "This is another grave politically motivated provocation against the dignified social system of the DPRK."

   12 The KCNA says the DPRK National Folk Art Troupe gave performances in Beijing, Nanjing City of Jiangsu Province and Shanghai before full houses.

   12 More meetings take place at industrial establishments and cooperative farms across the country to vow to implement the tasks set forth in the New Year's Address made by Kim Jong-un.

   12 A meeting of officials of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) takes place in Tokyo to achieve a great stride forward in the efforts to usher in a new heyday, true to the New Year address made by Marshal Kim Jong-un.

   13 The KCNA says the book "My Father," written by Jindallae Saphariny, the chairperson of the Jindallae Children's Foundation, was published in China on the occasion of the first anniversary of the demise of leader Kim Jong-il.

   13 North Korean leader Kim Jong-un received a message of greeting from Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Jan. 3.

   13 A ceremony for group running of officials of ministries and national institutions took place at Kim Il-sung Square in Pyongyang on the occasion of the first sports day this year.

   14 The Foreign Ministry releases a memorandum that called for the United States to immediately dismantle the U.N. Command, which it said is a subsidiary organ of the United States.

   14 John Daniszewski, the vice president of the Associated Press of the United States, arrives in Pyongyang by air.

   15 Foreign Minister Pak Ui-chun meets with Claudia Von Roehl, a representative of the World Food Programme (WFP) in Pyongyang, who paid a farewell call on him.

   15 The KCNA says the 17th Kimjongilia Festival will take place in Pyongyang next month on the occasion of the birth anniversary of leader Kim Jong-il.

   15 More meetings take place at industrial establishments and cooperative farms in various parts of the country to vow to implement the important tasks set forth by the dear respected Marshal Kim Jong-un in his New Year's Address.

   16 The KCNA says the (North) Korean Association of Cooks opened a Web site called "Korean Dishes."

   16 The KCNA says a project for turning Sepho Tableland into a large stockbreeding base is progressing apace in the DPRK.
