Half of adolescent N. Korean defectors living with single parent: data
SEOUL, March 7 (Yonhap) -- Nearly half of all adolescent North Korean defectors in South Korea are raised in single-parent households, data showed Thursday, highlighting the difficult conditions those from the communist country face in their new home.
The state-financed North Korean Refugees Foundation's survey of 1,044 North Korean youths in South Korea found that 53.5 percent of them are living with only one parent. About 36.7 percent are living with both parents while 3.4 percent are living on their own, according to the survey.
