SEOUL (Yonhap) -- The following is a chronological review of major developments related to North Korea from March 28-April 3, 2013.

28 Rodong Sinmun accuses the U.S. and South Korea of signing of a "joint plan for countering the provocation of a local war" on March 22 under the pretext of coping with a "provocation" from the North Korea.

   28 The charge d' affaires ad interim of the Pakistani embassy in Pyongyang hosts a reception at the Taedong River Diplomatic Club on the occasion of the Day of Pakistan.

   28 A meeting of all information workers in the army takes place at the April 25 House of Culture in Pyongyang.

   28 North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has a photo session with the participants in the meeting of information workers in the army.

   29 The (North) Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) says Kim Jong-un convened an urgent operations meeting on the (North) Korean People's Army (KPA) Strategic Rocket Force's performance of duty for firepower strike at the Supreme Command and ratified plan for firepower strike at 00:30 on March 29.

   29 The KCNA says Kim Jong-un received a reply from Raul Castro Ruz, first-secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, president of the Council of State and president of the Council of Ministers of Cuba on March 25.

   29 Minju Joson says an opportunity for peacefully normalizing North Korea-U.S. relations is no longer available.

   29 The KCNA says a nuclear war has turned out to be an established one on the Korean Peninsula.

   29 Premier Choe Yong-rim conducts a field survey of work at various sites in North Phyongan Province, including the Ryangchaek Bearing Factory and the Jangsan Co-operative Farm in Ryongchon County.

   29 The KCNA says all services and arms units of the KPA, including the strategic rocket units, have been placed on the highest alert to cope with new war moves by the U.S.

   30 North Korea's General Bureau for Central Guidance to the Development of the Special Zone warns the future of the Kaesong Industrial Complex depends on South Korea's attitude.

   30 North Korea releases a special statement claiming that from this moment, the North-South relations will be in a state of war and all the issues arising between the North and the South will be dealt with according to wartime regulations.

   30 Posters for the 3rd April Spring People's Art Festival are produced on the occasion of the birth anniversary of President Kim Il-sung (the Day of the Sun).

   30 A delegation of the Democratic Women's Union of (North) Korea leaves Pyongyang to take part in a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Women's International Democratic Federation to be held in Cyprus.

   30 The KCNA says people in the DPRK have risen up in an all-out action in the face of the U.S. and South Korean military's undisguised moves to ignite a nuclear war on the Korean Peninsula.

   31 Kim Jong-un visits the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun in Pyongyang together with members of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of (North) Korea (WPK) and members of the Central Military Commission of the WPK prior to the plenary meeting of the WPK Central Committee.

   31 The KCNA says a special prayer meeting takes place at the Jangchung Cathedral in Pyongyang to mark the Eastertide with the attendance of members of the Central Committee of the Catholic Association of (North) Korea, believers in Pyongyang, members of the regional association from all local areas and foreigners staying in North Korea.

   31 Deputies to the Seventh Session of the 12th Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK visit the Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery on Mt. Taesong.

1 The KCNA says Kim Jong-un was awarded the title of honorary citizenship of Damaturu City, Yobe State of Nigeria.

   1 Rodong Sinmun says the plenary meeting of the Central Committee of the WPK held on March 31 set forth a new revolutionary line on pushing forward economic construction and building nuclear armed forces simultaneously as required by the era and the developing revolution.

   1 The Seventh Session of the 12th Supreme People's Assembly (SPA) takes place at the Mansudae Assembly Hall in Pyongyang.

   1 The SPA decides to set up the State Space Development Bureau.

   1 The SPA adopts a law on developing space and a law on consolidating the position of nuclear weapons state for self-defense.

   1 The SPA elects deputy Pak Pong-ju as premier of North Korea's Cabinet; Premier Choe Yong-rim honorary vice-president of the Presidium of the SPA; deputies Kim Kyok-sik and Choe Pu-il members of the National Defense Commission.

   2 The KCNA says army-civilian meetings were held in South Phyongan, Jagang and South Hamgyong provinces to support the statement of the Supreme Command of the KPA and win victory in everyone's final decisive battle against the aggressors.

   2 A spokesman for the General Department of Atomic Energy says DPRK will adjust Uses of existing nuclear facilities.

   2 The KCNA says North Korea's General Department of Atomic Energy decided to take measures for readjusting and restarting all the nuclear facilities in Yongbyon including uranium enrichment plant and 5 MW graphite moderated reactor which had been mothballed and disabled under an agreement reached at the six-party talks in October 2007.

   2 The Mangyongdae Prize Sports Contest opens with due ceremony at the Basketball Gymnasium in Chongchun Street in Pyongyang in the run-up to the birth anniversary of late President Kim Il-sung.

   2 A conference of the Journalists Union of (North) Korea (JUK) takes place at the Grand People's Study House in Pyongyang.

   2 The KCNA says Pyongyang Passenger Traffic College has opened with the new school year beginning in North Korea on April 1.

   3 Rodong Sinmun says Kim Jong-un issued an order for action at an operation meeting on the performance of the Strategic Rocket Force of the KPA on firepower strike, and that the order is the final decision to end the showdown with the U.S.

   3 Rodong Sinmun accuses the U.S. of reinforcing troops in South Korea, claiming that this is the manifestation of the sinister intentions of the U.S. to pose a military threat to the North and step up pressure to provoke a nuclear war on the Korean Peninsula.

   3 Kim Yong-nam, president of the SPA Presidium, sends a message of greeting to Macky Sall, president of Senegal, on the 53rd independence day of the country.

   3 A delegation of the Indian Foreign Ministry headed by Gautam Hemant Bambawale, the joint secretary for East Asia, arrives in Pyongyang.

   3 Army-people meetings take place in the cities of Nampho and Rason to support the statement of the Supreme Command of the KPA and vow to win victory "in the all-people final battle against the aggressors including the U.S. imperialists and the south Korean puppet group of traitors."

   3 A ceremony of lighting the torch of the 5th International Martial Arts Games takes place in Pyongyang.

   3 The Secretariat of the North's Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea (CPRK) condemns the reported redeployment of U.S. chemical battallion in South Korea.

   3 The General Staff of the KPA said it will "take a series of strong, actual military countermeasures as the Supreme Command solemnly declared at home and abroad."
