SEOUL (Yonhap) -- The following is a chronological review of major developments related to North Korea from April 4-10, 2013.

4 The spokesman for the General Staff of the (North) Korean People's Army (KPA) issues a statement saying that South Korea and its surrounding waters are turning into places for the display of the nuclear strike capability of the U.S. imperialist aggressor forces. It added the area has become a dangerous hotbed of nuclear war in the truest sense of the word and the U.S. had better ponder the grave situation.

   4 A spring tree-planting event for Red Cross youth is held in Kujang County, North Phyongan Province, on the occasion of the spring period of the general mobilization for land management.

   4 Meetings between army personnel and civilians take place in districts and counties "to support the statement of the Supreme Command of the KPA and vow to win victory in the all-people final battle" against the U.S. and South Korea.

   4 The (North) Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) says a new kind of dispersive computer control system (DCCS) was developed by the Industrial Information Research Center under the State Academy of Sciences in the DPRK (North Korea).

   4 The KCNA says a poster was produced for the 15th Kimilsungia Festival which will be held on the occasion of the birth anniversary of President Kim Il-sung (the Day of the Sun).

   5 The KCNA says the U.S. is sending huge nuclear war hardware to South Korea when it introduced the nuclear submarine Cheyenne, B-52s and B-2As, inciting a war fever against the DPRK.

   5 Rodong Sinmun calls for stepping up economic construction under Workers' Party of (North) Korea's (WPK) new line on simultaneously pushing forward the economic construction and the building of nuclear armed forces.

   5 Rodong Sinmun says the WPK's line on simultaneously pushing forward the economic construction and the building of nuclear weapons is the most just revolutionary line which guarantees the peace in the Asia-Pacific region and prosperity of the Korean nation.

   5 The delegation of the Indian Foreign Ministry headed by Joint Secretary for East Asia Department Gautam Hemant Bambawale visits Mangyongdae.

   5 The delegation of the Mongolian Institute for Strategic Studies headed by N. Dorjsuren flies back.

   5 More army-civilian rallies to support the Supreme Command of the KPA are held in cities and counties of North Korea, including Songrim and Tanchon cities, Hungdok District, Yonan, Samjiyon, Kilju, Sijung and Musan counties.

   6 The KCNA says the statement of the Supreme Command of the KPA, entitled "The army and people of the DPRK will show their strong will of counteraction with practical military action," was distributed as an official document of the U.N. Security Council on April 2.

   6 The KCNA says the 5th International Martial Arts Games (IMAG) is to be held in Australia in May.

   6 Hong Kyu is appointed as DPRK ambassador to Mongolia, according to a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA).

   7 The State Stamp Bureau issued a new stamp in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of leader Kim Jong-il's election as chairman of the National Defense Commission (NDC).

   7 The KCNA says the amassing of U.S. nuclear-powered carriers in the waters off South Korea against the backdrop of operations of U.S. nuclear strategic bombers, nuclear submarines and other means for pre-emptive attack in South Korea and its vicinity are clear indications of the U.S. scenario to ignite a nuclear war against the DPRK at any cost.

   8 The North's National Reunification Institute releases a white paper which it said revealed the gravity and danger of the war drills being held by the U.S. and South Korea.

   8 Secretary of the WPK Central Committee Kim Yang-gon declares important steps on inter-Korean industrial complex in Kaesong, including the withdrawal of all North Korean employees from the zone, suspension of operations in the zone and examination of the existence or closure of the zone.

   8 A 10-day film show opens to celebrate the birth anniversary of President Kim Il-sung (the Day of the Sun) with due ceremony at the Pyongyang International Cinema House.

   8 Pak Kyong-son was appointed as new DPRK ambassador to India, according to a decree of the Presidium of the SPA.

   8 A national meeting takes place at the April 25 House of Culture in Pyongyang to mark the 20th anniversary of leader Kim Jong-il's election as chairman of the NDC.

   8 Rodong Sinmun says the WPPK's new strategic line on simultaneously carrying out economic construction and the building of nuclear force serves as a great revolutionary line to bring victory earlier.

   8 The military attaches corps in Pyongyang visit Mangyongdae Revolutionary School on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of leader Kim Jong-il's election as chairman of the NDC.

   9 The KCNA denounces the U.S. for being reckless for its reported decision to sell laser guided bomb bunker buster to the South Korean Army in May.

   9 The (North) Korea Asia-Pacific Peace Committee says all foreign institutions, enterprises and nationals in South Korea are requested to take measures for shelter and evacuation in advance for their safety claiming that the U.S. and South Korea are looking for a chance to start a war against it.

   9 Senior party and state officials visit the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun in Pyongyang to pay deep respects to leader Kim Jong-il to mark the 20th anniversary of his election as chairman of the NDC.

   9 The Kim Il-sung Prize is awarded to Mun Ki-chang, Ri Ui-jong, Ri Sin-ung and Choe Suk-myong on the occasion of the birth anniversary of President Kim Il-sung.

   9 The Central Committee of the Journalists Union of (North) Korea dismisses the "South Korean media's rhetoric" as another hideous provocation against the DPRK and an intolerable act of treachery saying that Chosun Ilbo, Dong-A Ilbo, Munhwa Ilbo, Segye Ilbo and other die-hard conservative media of South Korea are describing the North's new strategic line as a "provocation with an attempt at nuclear weaponization" and "extremely dangerous brinkmanship tactic."

   10 Rodong Sinmun denounces Japan's hostile moves against North Korea, which it said would only precipitate its self-destruction.

   10 The State Stamp Bureau issues four sheets of new postage stamps in commemoration of the Day of the Sun (April 15), President Kim Il-sung's birth anniversary.

   10 The KCNA says Kim Jong-un sent autographed letters to people of various social strata, including teachers, students and children, in reply to their letters which reflected their firm determination to achieve a final victory in the confrontation with the U.S. and the drive for building a thriving nation.

   10 An oath-taking meeting of young people takes place before the statues of Kim Il-sung and Kim Jong-il on Mansu Hill in Pyongyang. They vowed to uphold the leadership of Kim Jong-un with loyalty.

   10 Kim Yong-nam, president of the SPA Presidium, receives credentials from Gabonese Ambassador to North Korea Jean-Robert Goulonggana at the Mansudae Assembly Hall.

   10 The KCNA says the U.S. and Japan are conspiring with each other in a bid to pose potential military threats to North Korea.

   10 A social science seminar takes place on a new line of simultaneously pushing forward the economic construction and the building of nuclear force that Kim Jong-un laid down at the March, 2013 plenary meeting of the WPK Central Committee.
