SEOUL (Yonhap) -- The following is a chronological review of major developments related to North Korea from June 13-19, 2013.

13 The Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of (North) Korea (CPRK) slams South Korean authorities for the cancellation of the North-South talks.

   13 The (North) Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) says Pyongyang International Football School has taken shape on the scenic Rungna Islet on the Taedong River in Pyongyang as a center for training reserve footballers.

   13 Premier Pak Pong-ju makes a field survey of the Yanggakdo Football Stadium, which is under remodeling work at the instruction of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, and the Pyongyang Essential Foodstuff Factory.

   13 An event to mark World Blood Donor Day takes place at the Blood Transfusion Center of the Ministry of Public Health.

   13 A meeting of agricultural workers takes place at the Wonhwa Cooperative Farm in Phyongwon County, South Phyongan Province, to mark the 49th anniversary of the late Kim Jong-il's start of work at the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of (North) Korea (WPK).

   13 North Korean leader Kim Jong-un provides field guidance to in various sectors of Changsong County and North Phyongan Province, including the Changsong Fodstuff Factory.

   14 Minju Joson, newspaper of the Cabinet, slams South Korean authorities for the cancellation of talks between the North and the South.

   14 Officials and members of the women's union hold a poem recitation meeting at the Hall of Women to celebrate the 49th anniversary of the late leader Kim Jong-il's start of work at the WPK Central Committee.

   14 Senior state officials, including Kim Yong-nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA), visit the Pyongyang Essential Foodstuff Factory.

   14 The KCNA says the grand gymnastic and artistic performance "Arirang," winner of the Kim Il-sung Prize, will be given in Pyongyang to mark the 60th anniversary of the victory of the Korean people in the great Fatherland Liberation War and the 65th anniversary of the DPRK.

   14 Kim Jong-un provides field guidance to the Taegwan Glass Factory in Changsong County, North Phyongan Province.

   15 Rodong Sinmun claims the talks between the authorities of the North and the South, which were scheduled to start on June 12, proved abortive due to the arrogant and intentional disturbance by South Korean authorities.

   15 Kim Jong-un sends a congratulatory message to Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and president of the People's Republic of China, on his 60th birthday.

   15 Rodong Sinmun editorially marks the 13th anniversary of the June 15 joint declaration.

   15 A spokesman for the North Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration claims in a statement the "confidence-building process" touted by South Korean authorities is "not a policy aimed to sincerely settle inter-Korean relations but is nothing but rhetoric to mislead public opinion."

   15 The KCNA says Kim Jong-un inspected the historic Yuphyong Revolutionary Site where the late President Kim Il-sung instilled the faith of sure victory into commanding officers and soldiers of the KPA and learned about the war-time farming of the peasants of the village.

   16 North Korea, in a state of the spokesman for the National Defense Commission (NDC), proposes senior-level talks between the authorities of DPRK and the U.S. "to defuse tensions on the Korean Peninsula and ensure peace and security in the region."

   16 Mass rallies take place in provinces and cities on June 15 and 16 to vow to devotedly carry out the important tasks given by Kim Jong-un in his appeal and respond to the letter sent to the people across the country by those reclaiming the Sepho tableland.

   16 The KCNA says service personnel of the KPA continued tours of the revolutionary sites in front areas to mark the 60th anniversary of the (North) Korean people's victory in the Fatherland Liberation War.

   16 Kim Jong-un gives field guidance to the machine plant managed by Ho Chol-yong.

   17 The KCNA says Kim Yong-nam on June 12 sent a message of greeting to James Alix Michel, president of Seychelles, on the occasion of its national day.

   17 The KCNA says the State Stamp Bureau of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea has recently issued a sheetlet picturing Mt. Paektu.

   17 The KCNA says the second batch of Rason-Mt. Kumgang international tourists brought to the North by the ship Royale Star went sightseeing in Mt. Kumgang from June 16-17.

   17 The KCNA says Kim Jong-un on June 6 received a reply message from Raul Castro Ruz, president of Council of State and president of the Council of Ministers of Cuba.

   18 Rodong Sinmun says national reunification is a vital issue related to the destiny of the nation, claiming that the South Korean authorities should not hamper with efforts for the improvement of North-South relations.

   18 Kim Kye-gwan, first-vice minister of Foreign Affairs, leaves Pyongyang to visit China.

   18 Kim Yong-nam sends a congratulatory message to Hassan Rouhani upon his election as president of Iran.

   18 The KCNA says Rallies took place in South Phyongan, South Hwanghae and Kangwon provinces as well as Rason City on June 17 and 18 to vow to devotedly carry out the important tasks laid down in the appeal of Kim Jong-un.

   18 A national meeting is held at the April 25 House of Culture in Pyongyang to mark the 49th anniversary of late leader Kim Jong-il's start of work at the WPK Central Committee.

   19 Strategic dialogue between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China is held in Beijing.

   19 Michael John Gifford, British ambassador to the DPRK, hosts a reception to celebrate the official birthday of the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

   19 Dancing parties for youth and students take place in different parts of the DPRK on the 49th anniversary of late leader Kim Jong-il's start of work at the WPK Central Committee.

   19 Kim Jong-un receives a reply message from Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and president of the People's Republic of China.

   19 The KCNA says a spokesman for the Federation of Koreans in the U.S. on June 16 released a commentary demanding the U.S. respond to the DPRK's proposal for dialogue.
