BEIJING, Aug. 3 (Yonhap) -- Japan's new chief nuclear envoy will travel to Beijing for talks with senior Chinese officials on North Korea's nuclear weapons program, according to Tokyo's foreign ministry on Saturday.

Junichi Ihara, who was appointed in late June to head Japan's delegation to the six-nation dialogue on ending the North's nuclear programs, will hold talks with his Chinese counterpart, Wu Dawei, during his three-day visit to Beijing from Sunday, the ministry said in a brief statement.
