SEOUL, Aug. 13 (Yonhap) -- South Korea on Tuesday approved a visit to North Korea by a group of its citizens who will monitor the distribution of aid supplies in the communist country.

The visit marks the first time after President Park Geun-hye took office in February that Seoul has authorized visits by South Korean nationals to the North outside the Kaesong Industrial Complex and the Mount Kungang resort. The last such visit occurred in November 2012 when civic group members visited Pyongyang.
