BEIJING, Oct. 12 (Yonhap) -- China's northeastern border city with North Korea plans to begin cross-river boat tours to the North from next year, a move expected to boost travels between the two nations, state media reported Saturday.

The planned opening of the ship route between the Chinese city of Dandong and North Korean border city of Shinuiju across the Amnok River, also called the Yalu River in China, will offer more convenience for tourists as they can obtain a border pass within a day, China's Xinhua news agency said.
