N. Korea names senior provincial official as vice premier

SEOUL, May 1 (Yonhap) -- North Korea has named a provincial official as its vice premier, the country's state news agency reported, the latest in a series of personnel reshuffle in the communist country.
The Korean Central News Agency said in a dispatch Wednesday night that Kim Tok-hun, a senior official of Jagang Province near the border with China, was appointed as vice premier, citing a decree of North Korea's rubber-stamp parliament.
The one-sentence dispatch did not give any further details.
Earlier this month, the North's Supreme People's Assembly cut the number of its vice premiers to four from nine.
Kim's appointment will bring to five the number of its vice premiers if the four keep their jobs.
