SEOUL, July 12 (Yonhap) -- North Korean state media said Tuesday the country will be represented in nine sports at the upcoming Rio de Janeiro Olympics.

The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said the North will take part in the marathon, table tennis, wrestling and archery, among others.

Last week, Radio Free Asia reported the North will have at least 36 athletes in nine sports, with the Olympic qualifications for some sports still underway.

The delegation will include reigning Olympic weightlifting gold medalist Om Yun-chol and two-time artistic gymnastics world champion Ri Se-gwang.

North Korea had 51 athletes in 10 sports at the 2012 London Olympics and picked up four gold and two bronze medals. Three of the four gold medals came from weightlifting.

The Olympics will take place from Aug. 5-21.
