Nintendo set to launch game console in S. Korea
SEOUL, April 14 (Yonhap) -- Japanese video-game giant Nintendo Co. said Monday it plans to release its latest home gaming console "Wii" in South Korea later this month in an effort to compete with rivals Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. and Microsoft Corp.
Wii, equipped with a 729 megahertz IBM Broadway processor and an innovative wireless controller, will be sold for 220,000 won (US$226) starting April 26, Nintendo Korea, the South Korean unit of the Kyoto-based company, said in a press conference in Seoul. The system was first launched in Japan and the U.S. in September 2006.
