Gov't seeks to revamp R&D system, enhance competitiveness

SEOUL, March 8 (Yonhap) -- South Korea will revamp its national research and development (R&D) support system in a bid to improve the country's competitiveness and better contribute to economic growth, the government said Monday.

The Ministry of Knowledge Economy said under the new blueprint, it will transfer authority related to the selection of new R&D projects and direction of research to the private sector, saying it understands future trends and responds more quickly to changes.
