UBS picks Samsung as favorite in memory market

By Kim Young-gyo
HONG KONG, March 12 (Yonhap) -- A Swiss-based financial firm on Friday picked Samsung Electronics Co. of South Korea as the chipmaker most likely to lead the memory market in the first half of this year.

UBS AG said in a report it preferred Samsung, the world's largest chip maker, over every other company in the memory industry. At the same time, it picked Hynix Semiconductor Inc., also of South Korea, as the least-preferred along with Japan's Elpida Memory Inc.
