Former U.S. Secretary Kissinger hospitalized for minor stomach trouble


SEOUL, March 13 (Yonhap) -- Former U.S. Secretary State Henry Kissinger was admitted to a hospital in Seoul Saturday for minor stomach troubles, hospital officials said.

   Kissinger, 86, came to Seoul on Wednesday for a security forum and also met with President Lee Myung-bak on Friday. He was admitted to Severance Hospital in northern Seoul after complaining about stomach pain.

   "As of now, former secretary Kissinger is admitted and receiving treatment. His condition is improving and is not in serious condition," a hospital official said, requesting anonymity.

   Kissinger may be able to be discharged from the hospital in a day. he said.

   Kissinger served as secretary of state during the presidencies of Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford. He had originally been scheduled to leave Seoul on Saturday.
