INCHEON, Sept. 30 (Yonhap) -- North Korea on Tuesday booked a spot in the men's football final at the Asian Games, thanks to a dramatic 1-0 victory over Iraq.
Jong Il-gwan scored five minutes into the first extra period, as the North held on for 25 more minutes of extra time to reach its first Asian Games final since 1990.
North Korea last won an Asiad gold in 1978, when it shared the title with South Korea. This year's gold medal match will kick off at 8 p.m. on Thursday at Munhak Stadium in Incheon.
North Korea will face the winner of the other semifinals clash between South Korea and Thailand later Tuesday.
