SEOUL, June 29 (Yonhap) -- Eliminated in the group stage, South Korea finished the 2018 FIFA World Cup in 19th place.
Following the conclusion of all group play on Thursday, South Korea came in at 19th place out of 32 participants, third best among those who didn't make it to the round of 16.
In Group F, South Korea recorded one win and two losses, with three goals scored and three conceded. After losing to Sweden and Mexico, South Korea stunned defending champions Germany with a 2-0 victory in the Group F finale on Wednesday.
Four years ago in Brazil, South Korea ranked 27th among 32 teams with one draw and two losses.
Finishing just ahead of South Korea were Senegal (Group H) and Iran (Group B). They each had four points, but Senegal lost out to Japan for second place in fair play points while Iran ended up one point behind Portugal.
Panama, who lost all three matches in Group G with a goal difference of minus-9, ranked last.
